On January 15, 1919, a storage tank containing 2.3 million gallons of molasses burst in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts. The molasses, which was as thick as honey, flowed down the streets like a tsunami, crushing buildings and killing 21 people.

Among the dead were a number of children, who were playing in the streets when the molasses hit. One of the victims was a six-year-old girl named Dorothea Curran. She was playing with her friends when the molasses came rushing down the street. Her friends were able to escape, but Dorothea was not so lucky. She was swept away by the molasses and drowned.

Another victim was a 10-year-old boy named Ernest Rogers. He was playing with his friends when the molasses hit. He was also swept away by the molasses and drowned.

In addition to the children who died, a number of adults were also killed in the flood. One of the victims was a man named Pasquale Gentile. He was a laborer who was working on a building that was destroyed by the molasses. He was crushed by the building and died.

Another victim was a woman named Mary Carmody. She was a housewife who was cleaning her kitchen when the molasses hit. She was swept away by the molasses and drowned.

The Great Molasses Flood of 1919 was a horrific tragedy. But amidst the tragedy, there were stories of heroism and resilience. One of the survivors was a man named Joe Melone. He was a laborer who was working on a building that was destroyed by the molasses. He was buried under the molasses, but he was able to dig himself out and survive.

Another survivor was a woman named Anna Costa. She was a housewife who was in her kitchen when the molasses hit. She was swept away by the molasses, but she was able to grab hold of a floating piece of wood and stay afloat. She was eventually rescued by a boat.

The Great Molasses Flood of 1919 was a tragedy that claimed the lives of 21 people. But it also a story of resilience and heroism. The survivors of the flood showed great courage and strength in the face of adversity.
