In this captivating book, we delve into the lives of three extraordinary women who left an enduring mark on world history: Mother Teresa, Joan of Arc, and Mary, Queen of Scots.
Mother Teresa: The Saint of Calcutta
Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Macedonia, in 1910. At the age of 18, she joined the Loreto Sisters and was sent to Calcutta, India, to teach. It was there that she witnessed the extreme poverty and suffering of the city's poor.
In 1948, Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious Free Download dedicated to serving the poor and sick. The Free Download quickly grew, and soon Mother Teresa was opening homes for the dying, orphanages, and leper colonies all over the world.
Mother Teresa's work earned her the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She continued to work tirelessly until her death in 1997. She was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 2016.
Joan of Arc: The Maid of Orleans
Joan of Arc was born in Domrémy, France, in 1412. At the age of 13, she began to hear voices that she believed were from God. The voices told her to lead the French army to victory against the English.
In 1429, Joan of Arc met with the Dauphin Charles, who was the rightful heir to the French throne. She convinced him to let her lead the French army against the English. Joan of Arc's leadership inspired the French army to a series of victories, and she was eventually able to help Charles be crowned king.
However, Joan of Arc's success was short-lived. She was captured by the English in 1430 and was burned at the stake as a heretic in 1431. She was only 19 years old.
